CTID 411: EXHIBITIONS AND DISPLAY DESIGNS
An exhibition designer is responsible for creating fixtures and displays for various exhibitions, hosted by museums, shows, libraries, galleries, organizations or as part of a larger show. Some work independently, while others work for a single institution, such as a museum, private company or art gallery. The scope of exhibition display includes spatial arrangement, installation design, as well as the visual and contentual aspects of presenting information. Exhibition display is the physical and interpretative environment, in and through which artworks and artefacts are presented. Exhibition designis the process of conveying information through visual storytelling and environment. The main difference between exhibition and gallery is that an exhibition is a public display of art or items of interest, while a gallery is a place we use for the display or sale of works of art. Exhibition and gallery are quite common words in the world of art. Although these two words are often interconnected, they are not the same. A gallery is a place where art is sold or displayed, while an exhibition is an event that involves displaying arts or other items.
