The main purpose of this research was to determine and identify the challenges faced by micro finance institutions (MFIs) in credit management in Kisii. The study was guided by the following research questions: What are the exposing factors to credit risk among microfinance institutions? What is the relationship between credit management policy and customer retention? What are the guiding principles and practices that can be used to manage credit risk in microfinance institutions? In order to achieve the above, the study adopted a descriptive research design in order to obtain the data that is necessary, which in essence facilitated the collection of the private data as a way of getting into the research objectives. The population under study was 54 micro finance institutions. The collection of the private data was done using structured questionnaires that were pilot tested in order to ensure that there was reliability as well as validity. The coding of the data was done with the use of Microsoft Excel as when as Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) in order to generate the descriptive statistics for instance frequencies and percentages. The study findings reveled that there are various exposing factors to credit risk among microfinance institutions in Kenya. Specifically the majority of the respondents were of opinion that loans to individuals, highly contributed to credit risk, followed by involvement in foreign exchange trade, operational risk, prevailing inflation rates, prevailing interest rates group loans and finally, investment in bonds and equities. This implies that indeed issuance of loans to individuals is highly risk as compared to groups. It also implies that investment bonds and equities are less risky. The study concludes that that there is a positive relationship between credit management policy measures and customer retention. The study also concludes that the credit control policy implemented determines the risk exposure. Finally, the study concludes that controls, supervision and audit are adequate to mitigate credit risk.

I have managed to come up with short circuit tester which will automatically detect and indicate the short circuit available in the assembled board. The main aim of coming with this project is to reduce the loss of life of people when short circuit occurs, maintain the life span of valuable components installed in the board and facilitate easy way of troubleshooting the component effect during the repair damaged equipment. The two NPN transistor BC547 is used in the project design to since the presence of short circuit in the electrical circuit. The designed buzzer will automatically have signaled hence turning on Red LED when there is Short circuit in the circuit under the tester thus creating awareness.

The developments have seen a trend known as Remote healthcare or previously known as Telemedicine As a result, this project was an attempt to solve a healthcare problem facing the society. The main objective of the project was to design a remote healthcare system. It was comprised of three main parts. The first part being detection of a fall, second being detection of Electrocardiogram commonly referred to as ECG or EKG(heartbeat detection) and the last part was providing the detected data for remote viewing. Remote viewing of the data enables a doctor or health specialist to monitor a patient’s health progress away from hospital premises. Recent technology trend has seen Smart watches, fitness trackers and Smart phones with portable heartbeat detectors. All these are commonly referred to as wearable technology. These devices are modeled around another developing technology trend referred to as Internet of Things (IoT). The devices are linked to Smartphones that process and backup the information on a server. This information is later reviewed to give the health status or progress of the user. As the devices are still new to the consumers the cost is still high especially to those in developing countries. The aim of the project was to come up with a Remote Health Detection System that can be made with locally available sensors with a view of making it affordable if it were to be mass produced.

Automatic Street Light Control System is a simple and powerful concept, which uses transistor as a switch to switch ON and OFF the street light automatically. By using this system manual works are removed. It automatically switches ON lights when the sunlight goes below the visible region of our eyes. It automatically switches OFF lights under illumination by sunlight. This is done by a sensor called Light Dependant Resistor (LDR) which senses the light actually like our eyes By using this system energy consumption is also reduced because now-a-days the manually operated street lights are not switched off properly even the sunlight comes and also not switched on earlier before sunset. In sunny and rainy days, ON time and OFF time differ A significantly which is one of the major disadvantage of using timer circuits or manual . This project exploits the working of a transistor in saturation region and cut-off region to switch ON and switch OFF the lights at appropriate time with the help of an electromagnetically operated switch. The IR theft alarm consists of infrared IR Transmitter, IR receiver and comparator IC LM358. This detector circuit can be used to detect any human entry, obstacles, theft, etc, in order to use IR detector circuit to sense human entry, the IR sensor has to be placed opposite to each other .IR rays is directly falls on IR receiver which in turn is given as input to the ic LM358 which is used as a comparator. Comparator is a circuit which compares two voltages. (Reference voltage and input voltage) produced output according to the input. The output of the comparator is given to the transistor which acts as an inverter and drives a LED and a Buzzer. Buzzer will give you sound if LED is turned ON.
