DESIGN OF MULTIPURPOSE CUPBOARD TO MINIMIZE RESIDENTIAL SPACE PROJECT REPORT
ABSTRACT
This research project, titled “Design and Fabrication of Multi-Purpose Cupboard Model to Minimize Residential Space,” addresses the challenges of deforestation driven by timber demand for furniture, high costs of traditional pieces, and limited space in Kenyan urban households. The problem stems from massive tree cutting for wood-based furniture, leading to environmental degradation like soil erosion and biodiversity loss, while families struggle with inadequate storage and sleeping solutions in compact homes. The general objective is to develop a cost-effective, space-saving cupboard integrated with a bed using marine boards from agricultural waste, minimizing environmental impact and enhancing interior design. Specific objectives include designing the model, estimating costs, highlighting benefits over existing furniture, providing technical drawings via software like ArchiCAD 18 and SketchUp, and preparing bills of quantities.
The methodology involved data collection through observations and interviews with 60 participants (45 customers, 15 businessmen, 5 authorities), revealing 85% support for combined furniture. Design utilized 3D modeling for a structure with dimensions H: 185 cm, L: 195 cm, W: 45 cm, featuring modular shelves and a pull-out bed. Fabrication included cutting marine boards, assembling the carcass with rabbet and pocket hole joinery, installing heavy-duty slides, and finishing with sanding, sealant, and white varnish, executed over two weeks in a workshop.
Results yielded a durable prototype costing 399,000 Rfw, supporting up to 150 kg, with successful load-testing confirming stability and functionality. This innovation promotes sustainable practices, reduces space usage, and offers an affordable solution for low-income families, contributing to Rwanda's environmental and housing goals.

RENOVATION OF DARAJA MBILI BRIDGE PROJECT REPORT
Kisii is County of one thousand hills and contain infrastructure such as roads building, Bridge etc, some of these hills provide an unstable slope which need to be retained so the earth retaining wall and slope treatment is one solution of these unstable slopes is why it is on slope which is on located near road Keroka- Nyangusu Road in Nyamache district, Nyamache Sub- County Hospital in Nyanza Province. The main objective of this research is to design retaining wall for to retain soil near road as better solution.
To achieve the goals, some analyses have been done and the software most used were Google earth, Auto CAD and Microsoft word and excel. In addition, laboratory tests such as direct shear test to measure the shear strength parameters where cohesion and friction angle obtained showed that the soil is not cohesive.
According to the result found, the analysis and design of retaining wall have been made. The reinforced retaining wall has been designed, and it has been analyzed and design for stability requirements, the lateral earth pressure, checking against overturning, sliding and bearing capacity have been verified and earth retaining wall is found to be stable in the proposed location; the cohesion obtained is 0KN/m2, unit weight of soil is 18.9KN/m3 and friction angle of 440 and safe bearing capacity is 600kN/m2;safety against sliding 2.4 >1.5 and factor of safety against overturning4.36>2andfactor of safety against bearing capacity failure Qmax=158.62 KN/m2<qall where < 600 KN/m2 the total cost of this project of 50m length and 7m height.

STRUCTURAL AND ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN OF A FOUR STOREY RESIDENTIAL APARTMENT PROJECT REPORT
This project, titled “Structural and Architectural Design of a G+4 Apartment” in, Kisii Town, Kisii County was undertaken as part of the requirements for obtaining an Advanced Diploma at KNP. The project encompasses both architectural conception and structural design, with a strong emphasis on effective communication to all stakeholders. Each section of the project is clearly numbered to facilitate easy navigation, allowing users to quickly access specific areas of interest. The design process was informed by a wide range of references and follows the standards set out in various authoritative documents, particularly the British Standards (BS). The structural analysis began with the calculation of all expected loads, including the buildings self-weight. The architectural design includes detailed plans showing the dimensions and overall shape of the building. The structural design covers critical elements such as beams, slabs, columns, stairs, and foundations, adhering to the guidelines of BS 8110-1:1997. Detailed plans and reinforcement schedules for these elements are also provided. The total cost of the building is estimated at Ksh16,685,000. The design criteria are primarily based on British Standards.

STRUCTURAL AND ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN OF FOUR STOREY MULTI-SHOPPING COMMERCIAL BLOCK PROJECT REPORT
This project entitled “Structural design of four-story multi-shopping commercial block in Kisii Town”. The objective the research was to conduct a technical detail and study on the implementation of Structure design of proposed four story commercial building in Kisii Town in order to solve the problems of our country to fit in vision of land use. Therefore, conducting this research project could be a sustainable solution to the above-mentioned problems. During this research, the analysis of structural elements was made by combining manual analysis, ArchiCAD 18 & Atlantis software for providing architectural plans, arcGIS software for creating and using maps, compiling geographic data, analyzing mapped information, dynamic cone penetration test for determining allowable bearing capacity of the soil, PROKON software for analyzing and designing of structures. The architectural drawings, analysis and the design of all elements of structure, cross sections and reinforcements were calculated. The study revealed that building dimensions are (21.30m*25.60m) and the minimum requirements steel bar in slab at the top four steel bars of ten diameters (4Ø10mm/m), bottom three steel bars of eight diameters (3Ø8mm/m). Beam at top four steel bar of twenty five diameters (4Ø25mm), bottom (4Ø20mm). For the column ground floor (8Ø25mm), first floor (8Ø20mm), second floor (8Ø14mm) and last (4Ø12mm), stairs (4 Ø 12), foundation (5Ø16mm)

ONLINE VEHICLE PARKING RESERVATION SYSTEM PROJECT REPORT
The Online Vehicle Management Reservation System (OVPRS) is a system that enables customers/drivers to reserve a parking space. It also allows the customers/drivers to view the parking status at kyebando people’s park. It was developed because the congestion and collision of the vehicle, thesystem was developed for Kyebando People’s Park located in Kyebando. Therefore the project aimed at solving such problems by designing a web based system that will enable the customers/drivers to make a reservation of available parking space at people’s park.
The requirements for the developed system were collected using observation and interviewing the customer and staff member from Kyebando people’s park. The data from interviews was analyzed using Microsoft Excel so as to come up with the functional, non- functional and system requirements. These requirements were later used to design the system by creating data flow diagrams and entity relationship diagrams. The designed system was implemented using different development tools which include HTML for creating interfaces, CSS for styling wed pages ,JavaScript, and Jquery for dynamism in the web pages and as an input validation tool.XAMMP was used to build the database and PHP used as a server side scripting language to connect the user interfaces to the database. The system was tested by the researchers for errors.
