Computer Graphics (CG) is the field of visual computing, where one utilizes computers both to generate visual images synthetically and to integrate or alter visual and spatial information sampled from the real world. Computer Graphics is the pictorial representation and manipulation of data by a computer.

Early man used drawings to communicate even before he learnt to talk, write, or count. Incidentally, these ancient hieroglyphics (picture-writings) communicate as well today, as they must have done thousands of years ago, this fully supports the saying that “A picture is worth a thousand words” and in the era of computers we can add on to it or we may as well revise the saying to “A computer is worth a million pictures!”

Computer graphics are graphics created using computers and, more generally, the representation and manipulation of image data by a computer with help from specialized software and hardware. The development of computer graphics has made computers easier to interact with, and better for understanding and interpreting many types of data. Developments in computer graphics have had a profound impact on many types of media and have revolutionized animation, movies and the video game industry.
