Description

ENERGY SOURCES All of these different sources of energy are used to produce electricity. Types of Sources of Energy These can be broken down into renewable and non-renewable energy sources. Renewable Energy Source Renewable energy sources are natural resources that can be harnessed to generate energy in an environmentally sustainable way. These sources are replenished by natural processes and are considered a clean and green alternative to fossil fuels. Some of the most common renewable energy sources include: The major types or sources of renewable energy are: i) Solar Energy: Solar energy is harnessed from the sun's radiation using photovoltaic (PV) cells to generate electricity or solar thermal systems to produce heat for various applications. Solar panels are commonly used to capture sunlight and convert it into electricity for residential, commercial, and industrial use. ii) Wind Energy: Wind turbines capture the kinetic energy of moving air and convert it into electricity. Wind farms consist of multiple turbines and are often located in areas with consistent wind patterns. Wind energy is a significant source of electricity generation in many regions. iii) Hydroelectric Power: Hydroelectric power is generated by capturing the energy of flowing or falling water, typically in dams and reservoirs. The movement of water turns turbines, which produce electricity. Hydropower is a well-established and widely used renewable energy source. iv) Geothermal Energy: Geothermal energy is derived from the heat within the Earth's core. It is typically harnessed by tapping into underground reservoirs of hot water or steam, which can be used for heating buildings, generating electricity, or providing direct-use applications like greenhouse heating. v) Biomass Energy: Biomass energy is produced from organic materials, such as wood, agricultural residues, and organic waste. These materials can be burned directly for heat or converted into biofuels like bioethanol and biodiesel for transportation and electricity generation. vi) Ocean Energy: Ocean energy includes various forms of energy generated from the movement of tides, waves, and ocean currents. It is an emerging and still-evolving source of renewable energy with the potential for sustainable power generation near coastlines. vii)Tidal Energy: Tidal energy is generated by the rise and fall of tides in coastal areas. Turbines placed in tidal streams can capture the kinetic energy of the moving water and convert it into electricity. viii)Wave Energy: Wave energy is harnessed from the up and down movement of ocean waves. Various technologies, including oscillating water columns and point absorbers, can capture wave energy and convert it into electricity. ix) Algal Biofuel: Algae can be cultivated and converted into biofuels, such as biodiesel and bioethanol, offering a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels.

LINEAR ALGEBRA
This text is designed to teach the concepts and techniques of basic linear algebra as a rigorous mathematical subject. Besides computational proficiency, there is an emphasis on understanding definitions and theorems, as well as reading, understanding and creating proofs. A strictly logical organization, complete and exceedingly detailed proofs of every theorem, advice on techniques for reading and writing proofs, and a selection of challenging theoretical exercises will slowly provide the novice with the tools and confidence to be able to study other mathematical topics in a rigorous fashion.

CPY 101: INTRODUCTION TO PSYCHOLOGY Trending!
In this lecture the focus will be to learn about the evolution of psychology from a philosophical discipline to a scientific one. We will find out and learn about different schools of psychology and the modern perspectives of psychology – different approaches that modern psychologists use to explain human nature. Psychology has evolved into a discipline that can be treated from both basic and applied perspective. As a scientific discipline we will learn about modern research methodologies that scientific psychologists use to study human and animal behaviour. The significance of ethical issues will also be addressed.

Chemical Kinetics Trending!
The time required for a reactant to reach half its original concentration is called the halflife of a reactant and is designated by the symbol . For example, we can calculate the half-life of the decomposition reaction discussed in Sample Exercise 12.2. The data plotted in Fig. 12.5 show that the half-life for this reaction is 100 seconds. We can see this by considering the following numbers:

CCS 01 0 HIV/AIDS
Health is complete state of physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity The goals of public health are similar to the goals of HIV/AIDS education to student in tertiary institutions and they include:-- a) To prevent human disease, injury, and disability b) Protect people from environmental health hazards c) Promote behaviors that lead to good physical and mental health d) Educate the public about health; and assure availability of high-quality health services.

BCB 105: QUALITY MANAGEMENT Trending!
Today’s world of business imposes an intimidating array of pressures on the organizations and their performance. The demands of the stakeholders and more so the customers are for ever increasing as they require improved quality of products and services. The customer has come of age and no longer accepts inferior quality, limited choice and monopolistic margins. Today’s customer is strongly demanding quality in products and services. Hence, continuous improvement in business activities with a focus on the customer throughout the entire organization and an emphasis on quality is one of the main means by which organizations face up to the global competitive threats. This is why quality is looked upon by many organizations as the means by which they can survive in n increasingly aggressive market and maintain a competitive edge over their competitors

Foundations of Economics Trending!
People have unlimited wants but resources are limited. Scarcity is a naturally occurring limitation on the resource that cannot be replenished Because of scarcity, various economic decisions must be made to allocate resources efficiently. A shortage occurs whenever quantity demanded is greater than quantity supply at the market price. Over time, the good will be replenished and the shortage condition resolved.
